Biome is a combination of Wetness, Ruggedness, and Tiles. The three factors that contribute to creating a Biome are all found under Terrain. The Terrain tools can be used to modify the landscape.

A Biome is determined by the Tiles, Wetness, and Ruggedness within an exhibit.

1. One of three Tiles types must be used in order to create a Biome: Grass, Sand, or Mud. Only one type of tile can be used in an exhibit. If there are two or more types of tile in an exhibit, no Biome is created.

  • Grass Tiles can create the following Biomes:
    • Forest (Low Ruggedness, Low Wetness)
    • Rainforest (Low Ruggedness, High Wetness)
    • Taiga (High Ruggedness, High/Low Wetness)
  • Sand Tiles can create the following Biomes:
    • Desert (Low/High Ruggedness, Low Wetness)
    • Prairie (High Ruggedness, High Wetness)
    • Savanna (Low Ruggedness, High Wetness)
  • Mud Tiles can create the following Biomes:
    • Tundra (High Ruggedness, Low Wetness)
    • Alpine (High Ruggedness, High Wetness)
    • Swamp (Low Ruggedness, High/Low Wetness)

2. Wetness can be created using the Water Tool found under Terrain.

3. Ruggedness can be added using the Terrain Tool, Elevate, and sometimes Flatten tools found under Terrain.
